Eco-educational project for primary and secondary schools on the life cycle of e-waste.
In September 2022, we welcomed 20 new primary and secondary schools, from different parts of Slovakia, in the eco-educational project WEEE – Impact 6, which we implement together with the educational organisation Centre for Ethical and Environmental Education Živica.
The aim of the project is to make people aware of the negative impacts of e-waste on the environment and human health. Pupils and students educate their classmates and the surrounding area of their school about the proper management of e-waste.
School teams will get interesting information about the life cycle of electrical appliances in a fun and interactive way through:
- a 3-day course at the Živica Education Centre in Zaježova
- online workshops during the school year
- a media course and a short video production course
- excursions to the ZEDKO processing plant
- methodological materials and tools used in peer education
They use all the new information and knowledge to prepare information and methodological guides for their classmates, whom they educate in the classroom.
Project in numbers:
- the 6th year
- 98 primary and secondary schools involved
- 58 tonnes of e-waste collected
- 3 815 sports equipment for schools
