In October, the seventh year of the eco-educational project WEEE – Impact, designed for primary and secondary schools, started.
The seventh edition of the educational project WEEE – Impact involved 10 primary and 10 secondary schools from all over Slovakia.
The aim of the project is to introduce the young generation the life cycle of electrical equipment, from the extraction of raw materials, through production to the time when the equipment becomes e-waste. School teams from each school will participate in training sessions and webinars to gain new knowledge in this area, which they will then share with their classmates.
Over seven years, pupils and students have managed to creatively integrate the topic into 33 subjects. 118 primary and secondary schools have been involved in peer education, with more than 40,000 pupils collecting nearly 67 tonnes of e-waste.
The introductory courses took place in October/November 2023. The school teams, made up of one teacher and two pupils, initially visited a recycling plant where they learned about the whole process of recycling e-waste.
Training and support for the school teams is provided by trainers from the educational organisation CEEV ŽIVICA.
